If you have never opened Outlook Express before, the Connection Wizard will probably start up; if it does, skip down to #4, if the Connection Wizard doesn't start when you open Outlook Express, continue from here:
- Open Outlook Express and click Tools then Accounts
- The Accounts windows opens (below); click the Mail tab to filter out the news and directory services accounts (if there is already a Mid-Mo, mail.mid-mo.net or other pre-existing account you want to configure, click here)
- Click the New button to configure a new e-mail account
- If you do not get the window below, click the Configure account manually in the lower left-hand corner of the window that you do get
- Select the Account type you wish to use; POP3 is the default mail server type (your mail is downloaded from the server); you can also choose IMAP (your mail is copied from the server); Click OK
*If you would like detailed step-by-step explanations of the e-mail setup, click the Assist Me button
- In the Edit Account window (below), the Account name is the name of the icon that will appear in the Accounts window (it can be called anything)
- Under Personal information, your Name shows up when somebody downloads e-mail from you and your E-mail address is in the form username@mid-mo.net
- Under Receiving mail, your Account ID is your username, the server name is mail.mid-mo.net and the password is your password (if your uncheck the Save password box, you will have to enter the password every time you login)
- Under Sending mail, the SMTP server is mail.mid-mo.net
* If you have a domain name with us, both server names are mail.yourdomain.whatever
- Click OK and close the Accounts window
- To check your settings, e-mail yourself a message and then reply to that same message
