Outlook Express 5 - Configuring an existing account (Windows)

  1. Outlook Express accounts are displayed by clicking Tools then Accounts; the Internet Accounts window (below) opens showing all configurable accounts, click the Mail tab to show the e-mail accounts configured on this computer (to create a new account or if the Connection Wizard starts, click here)
  2. Select the account you want to configure and click Properties

    Accounts

  3. In the General tab (below), the Mail account is the name of the icon in the accounts window (it can be called anything); the Name and Organization show up when somebody downloads e-mail from you
  4. The E-mail address and Reply address boxes should both be your e-mail address (the contents of this Reply box are used when somebody gets e-mail from you and clicks the "Reply-To" button on their e-mail program)

  5. Click the Servers tab at the top of the screen (below); both the Outgoing mail (SMTP) and Incoming mail (POP3) servers are mail.mid-mo.net
    * If you have a domain name with us, the server names are mail.yourdomain.whatever
  6. Under Incoming Mail Server, enter your Mid-Missouri Internet account name and password (for Outlook Express to ask you for a password before it will download e-mail, uncheck the Remember password box and leave the password box blank)

  7. Click Apply then OK and close the Internet Accounts window
  8. To check your settings, e-mail yourself a message and then reply to that same message
