Outlook Express 5 - Additional E-mail accounts (Windows)

Outlook Express 5 will allow you to receive (and keep separate) e-mail from multiple accounts
  1. Open Outlook Express and select File, Identities, and Add New Identity

  2. Provide a name for this identity (this is not Internet related, so you don't have to use your username); you can require a password to enter this account (again, this does not have to be your Internet password)

  3. Click Yes on the window that pops up to switch to the new identity
  4. If you are connected, you will be asked if you want to keep the same connection for the new identity, or if you are not connected, you will be asked if you want to connect
  5. Select Create a new Internet mail account from the Internet Connection Wizard window that opens
  6. The Connection Wizard will next ask for Your Name in a "Display name" box, here you can enter your name, your family name, or nickname (this will appear as others download mail from you); click Next
  7. In the Internet E-mail Address window, select "I already have an e-mail address that I'd like to use" and enter your e-mail address in the box; click Next
  8. In the E-mail Server Names window, POP3 is the default mail server type (your mail is downloaded from the server); you can also choose IMAP (your mail is copied from the server)
  9. Both the incoming and outgoing server names (below) are mail.mid-mo.net; click Next
    * If you have a domain name with us, the server names are mail.yourdomain

  10. The Internet Mail Logon window (below) needs your username (account name) and a password; if you select Remember password, you won't have to enter a password each time you log on; click Next

  11. Select Finish on the last window
  12. If you are creating a new account, there are no messages or address books to import, so you can select Do not import at this time on the next window; click Finish on the next two screens
  13. You are now in a new Outlook Express screen completely separate from other accounts
  14. To switch between the identities, click File then Switch Identity
  15. Select the identity you want to switch to from the list of configured identities and click OK
  16. This process can be repeated for any additional e-mail accounts you need
