These instructions assume you are installing Pegasus Mail from the Mid-Mo CD; if you have a copy of the program from another source, you can find that file and double-click on it and continue from the Setup section. If you already have Pegasus Mail installed but need to configure it for the first time, you can skip to the Configuration section. If you already have Pegasus Mail configured from a previous installation, you can jump to the Settings section.
Getting to the Setup screen
Insert the Mid-Mo CD in your CD-ROM drive.
Note: If you have autorun enabled, your computer will try to load Internet Explorer; however, it will jump to the middle of the installation with a screen with a white background and two sentences with a FIRST TIME and SECOND TIME in them; click on the sentence with SECOND TIME in it to cancel the installation.
Click on Start, then Run; in the Open: box, type:
for Windows 95: X:\Pegasus\w32-254.exe
for Windows 3.x X:\Pegasus\winpm254.exe
(substitute X for the letter of your CD-ROM drive).
In the window entitled Winzip Self-Extractor, click Setup (the name of the file will be different for the Windows 95 and Windows 3.x programs).
Click the Continue installation button in the next window.
In the NetWare or Standalone? window, click the No NetWare Support button (unless you do intend to use Pegasus across a network).
The default directory Pegasus will be installed to is C:\PMAIL (you can make this any directory you wish), when you are satisfied with the directory, click the OK, accept this directory button.
In the next window, click the Use the US English dictionary by default button.
In the Ready to install… window, double-check which boxes are checked (the first two are selected by default) and click Install Pegasus Mail.
When you get the Setup completed window, click the Exit button.
You now have a Pegasus Mail program group on your computer, to continue the setup, double-click the Pegasus Mail icon. Click here to continue the instructions.
