Dial-Up Networking is essentially the dialer program; this page and the next deal with creating this connection (Microsoft calls it a connectoid). Sometimes, for no apparent reason a connection stops working; deleting the old icon at that time and repeating these steps to create a new connectoid will usually make things work again.
Double-click on the My Computer icon
Double-click on Dial-Up Networking (You will be asked to install a new modem if one is not already installed)
If you get a screen with a Next> button at the bottom, click on Next>
If you get a window with a Make New Connection icon, double-click it
You will be prompted for the name of the computer you are dialing; delete the name My Connection and type: Mid-Mo (yes, it's just the name of an icon and could be called anything)
Your modem should already be selected
Click on the Next> button
Type in your Mid-Mo access number. This is the number you'll dial to access Mid-Missouri Internet, and is included in the information provided by Mid-Missouri Telephone. Uncheck the box next to "Use counrty code and area code"/"Use area code and dialing properties." If you have printed out these instructions, write your access number here before you start:___________________
